INTRO
First of all, thank you to anyone who has tuned in. I am hopeful to start some new conversation, and look forward to sharing a new perspective on adversity.
In brief, my education background is in sports
psychology. My undergraduate degree is
in Psychology, and my graduate work focused on the mental aspect within
sports. Organizing ideas within these
subjects to create a framework that people can actually use is something I have
always aspired to be able to do. I guess
this is my first step!
In speaking with other psychologists, sports psychologists,
and professors, I have been able to come up with a unique perspective within
the field: The Daring Optimist.
Let’s be clear. I do
not feel that I am special. I don’t
think I am that different than anyone else.
I have been through some things personally and professionally that have
been challenging, but not unique to me.
This is simply a resource for me to shape my thoughts, feelings, and
ideas. I also want everyone to know that
whatever you are going through, you can get through it.
If one person can get something productive out of one of my
posts, this journey will have all been worth it!
Through scientific journals, personal experience, and maybe
even pop culture, I am hoping to stimulate how you think and cope with
adversity. Perhaps in your personal life,
maybe professionally or even as an athlete you struggle with how to process
events and stimulus you encounter. Maybe
I will be able to give you a new perspective, or refresh an idea that you have
already seen that will make you feel better for an instant, or be a step along
your path to fulfillment.
So let’s get started!
The plan is to post, at minimum, once a week (but that is just to keep
me focused). Please make sure to
SUBSCRIBE at the top of the blog so you will get an email alert when I
post.
I look forward to the feedback more than anything. I am just an email, or a message away!

ReplyDeleteAnd your willingness to 'put yourself out-there', and share your experience with players, coaches, friends, and family.
The blog is a great idea ... optimism is a healthy pursuit. WT - Go Dinos !
A worthwhile endeavour.. plus its not political. Refreshing. I’m sold.
ReplyDeleteNow if you could only sneak a Smiley Pete story in I would be over the moon. Good luck with this Matty!
